A Little Blog for a Little Knitting Group

Nothing is legit these days without a webpage.
Here's a little blog for our little 650/415 knitting group.
I'll auction off (for free of course) some yarn and other goodies to those in the group. We could also use the page to display pictures of members' completed projects.

The Knitting Group is back by popular demand!

WHEN: Sunday, October 16th from 2-6pm

WHERE: My Haus (see evite for details)

Be sure to bring:
1. Fuzzy socks or slippers if you wish as we are a shoeless household.

2. A dish, snack, or beverage of your choice to share.

3. Any DIY project.  If you’d like to knit and need yarn, I have some up for grabs.

See you there!

The May 22nd group was very small—only two people showed up—but we still had fun! Even the cat had fun (see photo)!
Next date TBA.  One idea, maybe we can knit outdoors under our sunshade? Weather has been too nice to knit indoors.

The last knitting group was Sunday, April 10th.

The group was small, but those who were there were able to vote on whether or not I should keep my ugly pants (see photo #1).  It was a 50/50 vote. The verdict? I ultimately gave the pants to Goodwill.  This photo confirms why this was necessary. So long hideous pants!

My cat also joined the group.  She really likes yarn. (Photo #2). In the background is a near finished baby blanket by KC!

The next group will be Sunday May 22nd from 2:30-6:30pm.  Evite to follow.

Knitting Meet-up CANCELED for March 6th.  Too few people could go and my grant deadline was extended to March 7th.
Stay tuned for a new date and time!

1st Knitting Group—Success!

Thanks to all of you who could make it out for the first knitting group! The first few times came be really frustrating, but we’ll be able to revisit what you learned this week during the next group. It gets easier and more rewarding, I promise!

There’s also still plenty of cheap yarn available  if any of you need some.

For all you newbies and for the more experienced, there is a FREE online knitting magazine with cool patterns and ideas taboot.  It’s called Knitty. Check out the latest issue!  http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEw11/index.php

If you want to get into knitting social networking, keep track of projects, post photos of your projects, or dork out with me, check out http://www.ravelry.com

To add me, I’m under the pseudonym Lily Munster

Next group to meet tentatively in two weeks.

This will be good to start. Free!

  1. Handmade white pompoms.
  2. Assortment of red, yellow, green (2 only), painted desert (variegated; 2 only).
  3. Single skeins of black, white, orange, yellow orange.
  4. Cat toy kit complete with instructions, yarn, *needles, and stuffing to make cat mouse, cat ball, and/or fish.  Enough yarn for at least 2 toys, I think.
  5. Seashell colored (a peachy tan) in 3 1/3 skeins—good for a baby blanket.

*I hoard needles, but happy to loan them to whomever wants this cat toy knitting project.

Please note: Not all skeins of the same color match exactly, but that could still look cool for a project.  Specifically, the yellows and greens are different.  The others are the same or match so closely they would work for a uniform color scheme.

Most of these skeins work with an 8 gauge needle.

The Devil: We have work to do my loathsome toad.
Smeck: Evil work?
The Devil: No, knitting. Of course evil work!
